Become a Board Member

The Society for Wilderness Stewardship welcomes interest from individuals interested in serving on the Board of Directors.  We are looking for Board Members with the following:

An interest in non-profit administration.

A passion for wilderness stewardship.

A desire to work collaboratively to keep SWS on a strategic path.

A sense of humor and enjoyment in group-based decision making.

The function of an SWS Board Member is as follows:

Duty of Care: Taking care of the Society for Wilderness Stewardship by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people and good will.

Duty of Loyalty: Ensuring that the Society for Wildenress Stewardship's activities and transactions are first and foremost advancing its mission; recognizing and disclosing conflicts of interest; making decisions that are in the best interest of the organization.

Duty of Obedience: Ensuring that the Society for Wilderness Stewardship obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; adheres to stated corporate purposes and mission.

Undertake a 3 year term, and engage robustly during the term.

Fundraise on behalf of the organization.

Engage in other work as needed.
